The Influenza Specialist Group launched its 2011 influenza awareness campaign on Wednesday March 30.
The campaign theme drew attention to the fact that influenza returns each year, having made its way around the globe infecting communities in many countries before coming back to Australia, and that often the viruses responsible have changed. The underlying message is that it is very important to be prepared for influenza every year, and that annual vaccination is still the most effective way to protect yourself, and those close to you.

To emphasise the message, a new digital video was created to show how influenza is transmitted across the world. The video forms part of a new range of online educational resources, including 'talking head' videos that address questions relating to influenza, vaccination and treatment.
A YouTube channel FluTube100 has also been created to enable anyone with access to a computer to see the videos.

The resources also include a consumer brochure (which has been translated into 13 languages), and a pair of accompanying posters. Read further on in this newsletter to find out more.
